Well, I can honestly say that I have never (up till this point) seen someones aquarium….in Los Angeles, CA…..that has crashed via – Freezing to Death…

 

That’s right. I said freezing to death. This had just recently happened to one of our long-term service clients. This 125g custom in-wall reef had been up and running for just about a decade. What seemed to have happened was that the Aqua Logic control we were running the chiller of off malfunctioned and kept the chiller running. Temperature got to 55F. Needless to say, everything perished with the exception of one hermit crab. the long survivor.

 

Hopefully we will  rebuild what was once a very beautiful decade old reef aquarium. We may document the rebuild process or we may not as our client is currently deciding on what to do with the aquarium. But whatever it’ll be, we’ll make it look awesome.

 

Lesson Learned: Change old aquarium chiller controllers before they malfunction.
