Underwater Electrical Wiring
Published Oct 1, 2019
So your pump or lights are fried to hell and you’re not interested in pulling apart the fountain and running new electrical lines to everything?
Well, you’re in luck. There’s a super easy way to swap your electrical gear
Magical underwater junction connection! Tada! easy peasy lemon squeezy
These bad boys, can make whats possibly a huge pain in the ass pump swap real easy. Especially for systems where you have to drain the fountain, breakdown pillars, snake new electrical lines, etc etc. These things are great! The most typical units for home fountains run about $6-$12 bucks, so you’re not spending a ton of cash. And on top of that, they save you a TON of time and a whole bag of headaches. There are also commercial styles as well which run a couple hundred bucks a unit.
A couple things to note:
1 – Things to make sure you do! Even though there connections have rubber gaskets, you still want to coat any rubber gaskets with Teflon lube. Better safe than sorry and its an extra layer of protection! We’ve even seen systems where these are filled with silicone to prevent any leaks whatsoever. This works great, but I’d only advise this if you have enough electrical line to be able to perform any future repairs. This way you can just cut these connection right off if you need to.
2 – These connections come in different sizes. So make sure you match your wire size to the appropriate connection size. When fitted, the electrical line should be nice and snug with zero movement when you pull on it
And as always, if you’re not sure what you’re doing, hire a professional! Thats what they’re for 😀
